How long have you lived in Forest Creek?  21 yrs

I am a retired Air Force officer. My formal education includes a Bachelors degree in

Mechanical Engineering and a Masters degree in Environmental Science. In my working

career I have served our country in both technical and leadership positions. I purchased

my lot in Forest Creek in 2003 and built my dream home here. I’m not going anywhere.

I have served on the Forest Creek HOA board of directors for 18 of the past 19 years,

serving in every position on the Board. My reasons are simple: I am retired so I have the

time to dedicate to serving my community, and I want to make sure my retirement home

never looses value and the neighborhood continues to be a safe and desirable place for

people to live in and raise a family.

During my time as Board member, with the support of the community and other board

members I have facilitated the new pool house and splash area, created a savings plan

that funded major investments like the wall on the main drives, and repairs (no special

assessments), prevented the development of a strip mall and service station on the corner

entrance (now Kids-R-Kids), prevented the construction of a State rehab facility at our

entrance (still an empty lot) and instead got the quiet business park, and added 150 trees

to our major roadways. I also orchestrated a deal with the City of Round Rock to use

reclaimed water to irrigate most of our greenbelt, saving a projected $20-$25K per year

and millions of gallons of valuable potable water, bringing the project in well under the

budgeted amount.

Serving on the Board of Directors for the HOA is not an easy job. There is a monthly

evening board meeting and numerous emails needing attention during the month. There is

no pay and board decisions are likely to anger some people. While I would like to see

more of our homeowners step up and take their turn at being on the HOA Board, I

understand that most are preoccupied with family and work and hope someone else will

do the job of protecting the biggest financial investment of their lives. If we can’t find

enough honest and selfless volunteer willing to serve then I will volunteer to serve

another term.
